To monitor effectiveness of the treatment of leprosy, anti-PGL-1 ELISA test is carrying out by the leprosy mobile team of Taegu Fatima hospital since 1989. A results of the serial test in a old settlement village is summarized, and following are resulted. 1. Positivity(over 200) is declined from 36.6% to 18.8% respectively during over nine years of MDT and so. 2. Up-grading(below 199¡æover 200) is revealed in both L & non-L group. (L:3non-L:2) 3. Down-grading(down to lower scores) rate is similar in both group. (L:36.8% non-L:33.3%) 4. Regardless of over nine years of triple MDT, no down-grading resulted in 29 cases(21.6%) and up-grading in 5 cases, which suggested resistant strains to dapsone, rifampicin and clofazimin all together or separately. 5. Among 198 patients in this village, 99 cases(50.0%) are fit to national elimination plan of completion of treatment and 51 cases(25.8%) are considered require close observation of its trends for certain time, another words, 75.8% are qualified to the Korean Screening regulation 6. Shifting of scores of anti-PGL-1 ELISA on serial examination suggests disease activity as active Is supposed. |
