Dapsone monotherspy was extensively used for the treatment of leprosy during nearly
30 years until the late 1970s. Because of the unexpected ever-increasing threat of
dapsone resistance began to draw attention in controlling the disease all over the world.
Multi-drug chemotherapy trials attempted for the future better improved leprosy
control program began to discuss jointly by the various countries, including Korean
leprosy institutions.
Serial skin histopathological evaluation of the disease progress of the study cases on
the Joint Multi-drug Chemotherapy Trials during the given period proved to be one of
the hopeful regimen developed so far, which multi-drug regimen allied is effective
clinically also.
Present contusion is accredited with the multi-drug regimen is acceptable to the
lepromatous leprosy patients and is found practical for field use. |
