Histoid leprosy is characterized by cutaneous or subcutaneous nodules as a specific clinicopathologic variant of lepromatous leprosy. Generally, it relates to the relapse of leprosy with previous sulfone therapy, but it can occur in the new patient who has not been treated for leprosy. We report a case of histoid leprosy in a 45-year-old woman who was diagnosed lepromatous leprosy 30 years ago and continued the medication of antileprosy until two years ago. The patient showed multiple brownish tense shiny pea to bean sized nodules and subcutaneous hard nodules on her lea thigh. Histo-pathological findings revealed well circumscribed tumor-like nodules composed of spindle shaped or foamy histiocytes surrounding by pseudocapsule. |
