Mycobacterium leprae obtained from 65 lepromatous new cases and 44 lepromatous relapse cases were inoculated into the foot-pads of CBA and ddy mice with 5,000 bacilli per footpads, after that these mice were fed with normal diet, DDS diet and Rifampicin diet under the condition of room temperature 20¡¾1¡É, After 180days, 270 days and 365 days the results obtained through hardest of bacilli were as follows. 1 In the control mice, average generation time of M. leprae was 37.5 days and there was no difference between new cases and relapse cases in generation time. The generation time of DDS-resistant M. leprae was 9 days longer than that of DDS-sensitive bacilli and the generation time of rifampicin -resistant bacilli was 13 days Bonder than that of rifampicin-sensitive bacilli And the generation time of DDS-sensitive bacilli and rifampicin-sensitive bacilli was 13 days longer than that of the control group. 2. The rate of proven primary DDS-resistant cases to the control positive new lepromatous cases was 263%, aid the rate of Proven secondary DDS-resistant roses to the control positive relapsed lepromatous roses was 70,5% . 3. Among 16 new lepromatous cases, four(25,0%) were found to be resistant to both DDS and rifampicin through mouse foot-pads tests |
