Of total 158 multibacillary leprosy patients, 102 cases were being treated with WHO regimen (dapsone 100§· daily, clofazimine 50§· daily and rifampicin 600§· monthly, clofazimine 300§· monthly) and 56 cases were being treated with lsoprodian 2 tablets daily and rifampicin 600§· monthly, clofazimine 300§· monthly, and the following results were obtained in the comparative study on the effectiveness of two different regimens. 1. Clinical improvements were observed between 9 months and 12 months of treatment in two regimens and there is no differences in the clinical improvements in two regimens. 2. Among the new cases, yearly BI declining rate was show 0.54+ in WHO regimen group and shown 0.4+ in Isoprodian regimen group. 3. In the frequency of E.N.L. reaction, WHO regimen group showed 36.3% of ENL frequency rate and Isoprodian regimen group 51.8%. 4. In the side-effects of two groups, WHO regimen group showed skin discoloration and dryness while Isoprodian soup showed gastrointestinal trouble and liver damage. 5. As a result, WHO regimen is more effective than Isoprodian regimen in the treatment for leprosy patients with multibacillary type. |
