Recon structive operations were done for 100 disabled leprosy patients at Institute for Leprosy Research, Korean Leprosy Control Association for the past 3 years from 1983 to 1985 by author and the following results were obtained. 1. For the correction of lagophthalmos, modified Gillies¡¯operation by Johnson which is used part of the insertion of the tempolaris give good results in the appearance and eye closure action, however, tarsorrhaphy is not recommended. 2. For the correction of claw-hand, Brand¡¯s many-tailed graft using extensor carpi radialis brevis give good results, however, this operation is not recommended for patients of labor worts. For the Correction of drop- wrist, pronator teres transfer operation is not always satisfactory. 3. For the correction of drop-foot, tibialis posterior tendon transfer operation give good functional results, however, if patients use high stepping gait even after surgery, operational results will become poor. |
