We have carried out the use of colchicine to treat twenty lepromatous patients with
erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL) admitted in the hospital of Korean Leprosy Control
Association and the following result s were obtained.
1. Colchicine was effective to treat mild ENL.
2. Colchicine was not effective to treat severe ENL
3. Colchicine was useful to tail off either prednisolone or thalidomide in the treatment
of moderate ENL.
4. The side-effects of colchicine was not significant, but a few cases showed mild
gastro-intestinal disturbance.
5. Therefore, colchicine may be a useful drug for only mild ENL cases and for tail-off
the other drugs treated for moderate ENL cases. |
