215 cases of new or relapsed leprosy cases were administered prothionamide in combination with dapsone and refampicin on field wort, and following hepatotoxic effects wee experienced. 1. 21.9% of total patients revealed hepatotoxic findings. 2. Higher proportion of hepatotoxicity is observed in female patients. 3. Toxicity seems paralell with dosage of prothionamide. 4. Incubation time was 108. 1 days. 5. all of affected cases were recovered spontaneously by cessation of the drug administration, subjective symptoms subsided within shortterm period and laboratory findings recovered in all cases within 4 months. 6. Thionamides are possible to administer for leprosy treatment in close observation and available laboratory facilities. |
