Compared with the bacterial index by the skin smear and the Numbers of bacilli by the Nuclepore filter methods for enumerating M. leprae from patients shows that both method gave similar results. The results were obtained as follows: 1. The ratio of bacterial detection is 91% with skin smear method and 86% with nuclepore filter method. 2. Bacterial Index of skin method and bacterial number of nuclepore method are on perfect positive corelation.
