Until 1962, no active domiciliar leprosy case-finding method in the field was applied in Korea. Authors have initially engaged the method utilizing para-medical workers in the field leprosy control project in Jolla-Bukdo province on april 1963. And the results of 800 new cases during consequent two and half years were evaluated as follows: 1. About 52% of total was lepromatous type and 42% was tuberculoid. 2. 36% of total patients revealed positive in skin smear test. 3. Ratio between male and female was 3.5 : 1. 4. 64% of total patients were found through paramedial workers and the rest was voluntees and through campaign. 5. Engagement of paramedical workers in leprosy control scheme in Korea resulted successful. |
