The study was investigated the frequency of relapsy patients at the Mahaica Hospital in Guyana, South America, from March the 1973 to November the 1974. The results were as follows: 1. Total released cases were countered in 74 cases among 319 cases (23.2%). 2. Relapsing rate showed 33.6% (60cases) in lapromataus type (182 cases) 1% (9 cases) in tuberculoid type (111 cases) and 35.7% (5 cases) in borderline group (14 case). 3. Sexual frequency of reapse was higher in male (26.7%) than in female (17.7%). 4. Average duration from negative to positive in tissue smear among 74 relapses was 15 years. 5. It is considered to the fact that relative high relapsing ratio in leprous patiens was caused by not only the sulphone-resistance phensmen of M. leprae but the sulpgone treatment prospectly. |
