The author studied and observed both on the phyrsical structure and function of the leprosy patients at the lepra colonies throughout Kyoagsaag Namdo from November 1963 to June 1966. The patients group consisted of the 884 isolated (449 males and 435 females), the 919 non-isolated home patients (455 males and 464 females). The control group comprised of the 557 farmers (271 males and 286 females). The following conclusions were obtained : 1) The body length of the male Patient-group in both the lepromatous type and the tuberculoid type was 164.3§¯ alike, arid that of the female patient-group in the same two types was 152.8§¯. However the body length of the non-patient group that is the farmer, male 163.6cm in the male and 134.5cm in the female. There were no notable differences esther between the both types of the patient-group or also between the patient group and the controlled one. 2) In the cast of the male the body-weight was 50.37§¸ in the lepromatous type and 50.85§¸ in the tuberculoid type while it was 45.04§¸ in the lepromatous type and 45.45§¸ in the tuberculoid type in the female case. But the weight of the non-patient group was 53.16§¸ in the male and 48.21§¸ in the female. Although there were no clear differences between the both types of the disease, the body-weight of the patient-group was not so heavy as that of the non-patient one. 3) In the case of the male the chest-girth was 83.9cm in the lepromatous type, 84.4cm in the tuberculoid type, 77.2cm in the lepromatus type and 78.0cm in the tuberculoid type of the female, while it was 86.4cm in the non-patient group of both the male and the female. There was not the dissimilarity in all types of the patients but was the evident difference between the patient-group and the farmer group (non-patient). 4) When the author had calculated the indices of the physical structure there was no difference between the both types of the disease. In the lepromatous type of the male, the relative body-weight was 30.6, the relative chest-girth 51.1, the Kaup-index 1.85 and the Vervaeck-index 81.6. And in that type of the female it was 29.4, 50.2 1.9and 80.0 in each of them, while in the case of the non-patient group, they were 32.2, 52.0. 2.0 and 84.9 in the male, and 31.2, 51.7, 2.0 and 82.4 in the female. As a result of the above calculation the indices of the physique were not higher in the patient-group than in the non-patient. 5) The grasping polder of the patient-group was weaker than that of the non-patient group (the farmer) regardless of each type of the disease. The grasping power became weaker according to the varying degree of the deformity. In the first degree of the deformity the grasping power of the male patients was 42.3-43.2§¸ and that of the female patients 32.7-33.6§¸. In the second degree, the grasping poller of the male patients was 33.7-35.2§¸ and that of the female patients 2,9.0-30.5§¸. In the third degree, the grasping power of the male patients was 30.6-33.1 §¸ and that of the female patients was 26.6-28.4§¸. But the grasping power of the non-patients was 44.1§¸ in the male and 35.4§¸ in the female. 6) Lifting Power of the patient-group was weaker than that of the non-patient group without any connection with the types of the disease, and became weaker according to the varying degree of the deformity. In the first degree of the deformity the lifting poller of the male patient group was 92.8-nd that of 99.2§¸ the female patient-group was 55.4-57.9§¸. In the second degree, the lifting power-of the male patient group was 77.8-80.6§¸ and that of the female patient-group was 57.1-62.0§¸. In the third decree, the lifting power of the male patient-group was 72.9-76.9§¸ and that of that of the female patient group was 49.3-59§¸. In the non-patient group the lifting power of the, male was 131.7§¸ and that of the female was 68.5§¸. 7) In comparison with the non-patient group the changes of the position-sensibility of the patient group was severer, and even between the both types of the patient-group it was much severer, in the tuberculoid type than in the lepromatous. 8) In the measurement of both the minimum adding and reducing quantities, the fluctuation of the weight-feasibility among the patients was severer in the tuberculoid type than in the lepromatous one. And the changes of the weight-sensibility of the patient group (either in the T type or in L tripe) was much wider than that of the non-patient group. |
